In Seville, Spain, on 7 May 2021, the Air Force of the Czech Republic Armed Forces took over a CASA C-295MV military transport aircraft, serial number 172, identification (registration) number 0481, which complemented the existing fleet of four CASA C-295M aircraft. The event followed a detailed assessment of the aeroplane by the Military Aviation Authority of the Organizations Management Division, MoD, with the aim of reviewing the relevant documentation and the aeroplane in relation to its type capability and airworthiness.

Except for a small change in the sort of camouflage colours (matt coating replaced with semi-gloss coating), the most noticeable distinguishing feature of the aeroplane is a new version of the winglet wing contributing to the improvement of the flight performance. The biggest changes are hidden at first sight; they relate to navigation and communication equipment.

At the end of the whole process, Revision No. 1 – Type Acceptance Certificate (designated as UZT-0008 in the Czech language) – was issued; it involves both versions of the aeroplane that are currently being operated. Subsequently, a Certificate of Airworthiness was issued and the aeroplane was registered on the Czech Republic Military Aircraft Register.

The CASA C-295MV aircraft was flown to its home base – 24 Transport Aviation Air Base at Kbely, Prague, on 18 May 2021. The take-over of the other aeroplane is expected in the course of July 2021.
