The Canadair CL – 600 – 2B16 Challenger aircraft in the CL – 601 – 3A version belonged to the family of the business jet category. As from 18 December 1992 until 31 December 1998, it was operated by the State Aviation Inspection of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic (ČSFR) and the Czech Rebublic (ČR) where it flew under the registration (identification) mark of OK BYA.
After the aircraft was taken over by the Army of the Czech Republic, it was operated under the registration number of 5105 by the 241st Transport Squadron at the 24th Transport Air Force Base, Prague-Kbely. The operation of the aircraft was terminated in compliance with the consent of the Minister of Defence in mid-August 2021. Its removal from the Military Aircraft Register was carried out on 14 March 2022. Subsequently, the aircraft will become part of the collection of the Military Historical Institute.
The Challenger aircraft served mainly to ensure the air transport of the members of the Army of the Czech Republic, constitutional officials, and foreign delegations.
