General Janoušek Commemorative Medals awarded

A ceremonial act of awarding the Commemorative Medals of General of the Army Karel Janoušek took place at the DAP Hotel in Prague on 3 November 2022 as an expression of appreciation for outstanding merits for the benefit of military aviation of the Czech Republic. Deputy Minister  of Defence for the Management of the Industrial Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Defence, Czech Republic, PhDr. Tomáš Kopečný, who attended the award ceremony, personally handed over  the commemorative medals to selected personalities of Czech aviation.

The Commemorative Medal of General of the Army Karel Janoušek is not only remembrance of this remarkable personality of our military aviation history; but, above all, it is appreciation of merits in various fields of human activities that relate in any way to our military aviation, whether they are current or former airmen, aeronautical technical experts, aeromedicine specialists or historians, publicists, and others.

The Department of Supervision over Military Aviation (commonly known as Military Aviation Authority) of the Ministry of Defence, Czech Republic, has been engaged, for a number of years, in the awarding of the selected personalities who have significantly contributed to the development of aviation. This year, among those awarded is, for example, Ing. David Jágr, Director of Civil Aviation Authority CZ, who, tkanks to his unbiassed and professional approach to dealing with matters in the whole range of aviation issues, has fundamentally contributed to creating the foundations for cooperation between civil and military aviation and its further development. Others medal-awarded are, for example, Ing. Rudolf Trunc and Ing. Jaromír Lang, who, besides other activities, have significantly participated and still participate in the process of the development of the L39NG aircraft. In the near future, this aeroplane should become an important element of aviation training of the Czech Air Force pilots and the first jet type of every prospective pilot of supersonic aeroplanes of a new generation.

All eight selected men, who have been awarded commemorative medals this year, have their own life stories behind them which have one thing in common – the relation to military aviation of the Czech Republic and their contribution to its development.
