Agreement on giving credit for military service of military aviation personnel for Private Pilot Licence signed

On 10 May 2022, the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Czech Republic (CAA CZ) concluded an Agreement on Giving Credit for Military Service of Military Aviation Personnel for the Issuance of a Private Pilot Licence.

On behalf of both Authorities, Colonel Lubomír Sitta, Director of the Department of Supervision over Military Aviation (i. e., Military Aviation Authority, MAA), and David Jágr, Director of the CAA CZ, signed the Agreement in the presence of First Deputy Minister of Defence František Šulc and Brigadier General Petr Čepelka.

According to the Director of the CAA CZ, the signing of the Agreement is confirmation of  the high level of military aviation in the Czech Republic while fulfilling the joint mission of the Military Aviation Authority and the CAA CZ.

A military pilot who wants to go in for flying in civilian life in his free time, or who is leaving the army, will now receive official recognition of his professional qualifications acquired  during his military service, and for this reason, he will not have to go through all the necessities that have been essential so far to obtain a civil licence, including a proficiency check.

In connection with the Agreement, the preparation of the prospective pilots who study this specialization at the University of Defence in Brno and undergo their practical air training at Pardubice Aviation Training Centre has also been modified. The new curriculum will  thus fully comply with civil rules, standards and requirements defined by the CAA CZ for the needs of civil aviation.
